FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
General
No. As long as our technician has access to your keys to get your vehicle up on ramps, you do not need to be present for service. We will send you an invoice upon completion of service.
Things happen or come up, it’s understandable. We allow customers to reschedule their visit at no charge, simply reach out to our office at 207-910-7878 or hello@divi5.207undercoating.com and we can get you scheduled for another day or cancel your visit. We do require a minimum of 72 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Please note, if you paid a deposit on your service and cancel the service, you will forfeit the deposit. Rescheduling is free. Excessive rescheduling (moving the same visit more than 2 or 3 times) will result in canceling the service and forfeiting the deposit. You will need to schedule a new visit should this happen.
After you have signed up and been scheduled, we will send you a reminder a few days prior to your service. Our team will also send you a text message with their ETA and a photo (so you know who to expect).
When our team arrives, we will get your vehicle on ramps, undercoat the undercarriage of your vehicle, and then set your vehicle back down. Our team brings everything needed for service and takes it all with us. We pride ourselves on providing a quick, efficient, and convenient service.
The length of time to service your vehicle will depend on the size of the vehicle and which package you selected. Generally, we recommend that you plan for between an hour and two hours. If you have time constraints please let our team know when you are scheduling so that we may account for your needs.
We recommend that Fluid Film be reapplied at least annually or every 15,000 miles – whichever comes first. For many vehicles, we can skip injection (our “Premium” service) as this dries up much slower than the undercarriage coating.
We pride ourselves on transparent pricing. You may view our pricing and request a quote by clicking here.
We accept cash, check, venmo, or credit/debit cards. You may pay your technician at the time of service.
Our team uses a highly pressured and focused sprayer to reduce the amount of overspray. Some overspray is inevitable and our team takes great care to reduce it as much as possible. Fluid Film doesn’t stick or react to vehicle paint, so a quick rinse should do the trick.
We use Fluid Film Black in all of our applications. For more than 60 years, it has been the industry standard in highly corrosive environments. Fluid Film is also non-toxic, non-hazardous, and contains no solvents. It remains somewhat wet, allowing it to creep throughout your vehicle’s undercarriage. Fluid Film may be washed away by high-pressure water (such as car washes), but it would not come off purely by driving around. We do recommend that you reapply Fluid Film annually for maximum effectiveness.
Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to Service
No. As long as our technician has access to your keys to get your vehicle up on ramps, you do not need to be present for service. We will send you an invoice upon completion of service.
No, by default, we will report the service to CARFAX by scanning the VIN of each vehicle at the time of service. Please let us know before your appointment if you wish to not have your service reported to CARFAX. We must toggle off the feature before your appointment. You can learn more about what data is shared with CARFAX (hint: it’s not much), in our Terms of Service.
We recommend that you get a high-pressure undercarriage wash prior to service. This allows for any debris or loose rust to be removed. Our team is not equipped to provide an undercarriage cleaning prior to service. Your vehicle will be serviced in the state it is provided to us at the time of service.
There are a couple of things that will help:
- Get a car wash a day or two prior. This will ensure your vehicle is free of debris and loose rust.
- Have a plan for your service day. Either you (or someone else) will be present at the service location or you have informed us of where your keys will be so we can get your vehicle on ramps. You are not required to be present for the service.
- Ensure there is somewhere safe to provide service. Having 3-5 feet around the vehicle and somewhere away from other vehicles/buildings will allow our team to work quickly and efficiently. If you are getting serviced on a property you don’t own, you are responsible for ensuring that all requisite permissions have been granted.
Frequently Asked Questions
After Service
Absolutely! Fluid Film will continually get to work after your vehicle has been protected. There is no downtime or time needed to cure.
There are a few important reminders we want to ensure that everyone is aware of following service:
- NO UNDERCARRIAGE CAR WASHES. This will rinse off your undercoating and leave your vehicle unprotected. If you must rinse your vehicle’s undercarriage, please use a garden hose or similar pressure of water – do not use spray nozzles. We are not responsible if you wash off your undercoating.
- There may be some overspray, that is inevitable. A rinse of the exterior of your vehicle will get rid of it. Fluid Film does not react to vehicle paint or stick to such surfaces.
- Fluid Film will not dry or harden like other products. This is good – this allows Fluid Film to remain active and creep into other areas of your undercarriage and “self-repair” in the future.
- Some smoking of high heat areas is expected. You may notice some smoking for the first couple of times you drive your vehicle. This is expected as the Fluid Film application is “burned off” by the heat from your vehicle. This is not causing damage to your vehicle, this is just your vehicle returning it’s expected state.
If you have any questions, our team is available. Please reach out by phone (207-910-7878) or email (hello@divi5.207undercoating.com).
Fluid Film remains tacky to the touch, which allows for it to continually self-repair and creep throughout your vehicle. Because it does not fully dry and harden, it could be washed off by a car wash. If you get a car wash after your application, please ensure you do not get a car wash that includes an undercarriage wash, this will wash off your application. If you need to rinse your undercarriage, you may do so carefully and with a garden hose. We are not responsible for undercoatings that are washed off by vehicle washes of any kind.
